For immediate releaseCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I., February 9, 2004 - A $128,346 competitive contract has been awarded to A.J. Maintenance Ltd., of Charlottetown, P.E.I., to provide interior cleaning services at the Dominion Building, Charlottetown, P.E.I. The company will also clean the exterior of the building including windows. This contract will create six jobs and will be completed in October 2004 with the option of up to four one-year extensions.The announcement was made today by Shawn Murphy, MP for Hillsborough and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans with special emphasis on the Oceans Action Plan, on behalf of the Honourable Stephen Owen, Minister of Public Works and Government Services."A.J. Maintenance will bring its high tradition of excellence in janitorial services to this important public building here in Charlottetown," said Mr. Murphy. "Contracts of this nature contribute toward prolonging the life of our public buildings and ensuring savings, in the long run, for Canadians."The Dominion Building, located at 97 Queen Street, Charlottetown, was built 45 years ago. Its main federal government tenant is Veterans Affairs Canada.
