JOHN'S - A $854,496 competitive standing offer* has been awarded to Eastern Technical Services Ltd., of St. John's, to provide construction inspectors, survey assistants, environmental officers and other expert personnel to supervise various marine and civil construction projects, including buildings, in Newfoundland on an as-and-when-requested basis. This contract is expected to create between 10 and 15 jobs and maintain 11 others and will expire in October 2006.* A standing offer is an arrangement that allows government departments and agencies to deal with suppliers under set prices and conditions. A contract will exist with a supplier only when a department or agency orders goods or services from the standing offer agreement.BARGE CONSTRUCTION IN ST. JOHN'S HARBOURST. JOHN'S - A $358,630 competitive contract has been awarded to D.F. Barnes Ltd., of St. John's, to build a barge at St. John's Harbour. The barge will be used to support crew and equipment during offshore hydrographic assignments.
