DESIGN FOR BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION VANCOUVER - A $395,528 competitive contract has been awarded to Sandwell Engineering Services Ltd., of Vancouver, British Columbia, to prepare the design for the construction of a new bridge over Smith River on the Alaska Highway. The company will also prepare and submit specifications for the demolition of the existing bridge which has been in use since its construction in the 1940s. This contract will be completed in March 2005. SURVEY SERVICES FOR ALASKA HIGHWAY FORT NELSON - A $300,000 competitive standing offer* has been awarded to Noaghan Enterprises Ltd., of Fort Nelson, British Columbia, to provide survey services for the reconstruction of a stretch of the Alaska Highway on an as-and-when requested basis. This standing offer will expire in 2006. * A standing offer is an arrangement that allows government departments and agencies to deal with suppliers under set prices and conditions. A contract will exist with a supplier only when a department or agency orders goods or services from the standing offer agreement. REPAIRING CCGC KITIMAT II ENGINES VICTORIA - A $118,303 competitive contract has been awarded to Wilson & Proctor Ltd., of Victoria, British Columbia, to repair two main propulsion engines and gear boxes on board the CCGC Kitimat II, a small multi-purpose cutter operating out of Sidney, B.C. Awarded on behalf of the Canadian Coast Guard branch of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, this contract will maintain four jobs and will be completed in January 2005. AIRPORT AIRSIDE MAINTENANCE PORT HARDY - A $102,795 competitive contract has been awarded to K&K Electric Ltd., of Port Hardy, British Columbia, to undertake maintenance of airside electrical installations at the Port Hardy Airport. The company will also document and provide reports on other work to be carried out on the site.
