MEDIA ADVISORY WHEN: Thursday, May 12th 2005 WHERE: CRTC headquarters, 1 Promenade du Portage, Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, Central Building, Gatineau, Quebec TIME: Lock-up: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. OTTAWA-GATINEAU, May 9, 2005 -- The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) will release its decision on "The Regulatory Framework for Voice Communication Services using Internet Protocol" (VoIP) on May 12th at 4:00 p.m. The CRTC will hold a lock-up from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on May 12th. During the lock-up, a technical briefing will be provided by CRTC staff and CRTC Chairman, Charles Dalfen will be available to answer questions. Media representatives interested in attending the lock-up are asked to register with Cindy Ventura at 819-997-4275 by 5:00 p.m. on May 10th 2005. A non-disclosure agreement is required for all those attending the lock-up. Copies can be obtained upon registration. As usual with lock-ups, once inside the room, no one is permitted to leave before the release time of 4 p.m. Cell phones, wireless handheld devices (e.g. Blackberry), pagers, etc. must be left with the CRTC staff securing the room. Laptop owners should disable wi-fi capability prior to arriving at the CRTC, as their computers will be checked to ensure they are off for the duration of the lock-up.
