About HRSDC | Our Offices | Programs & Services | A-Z Index May 26, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEWMARKET, ONTARIO-The Honourable Belinda Stronach, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Minister responsible for Democratic Renewal, today officially opened the Newmarket Human Resource Centre of Canada for Students (HRCC-S) for business. The office will help employers and students with their summer employment needs. Human Resource Centres of Canada for Students link students and employers by providing students with job opportunities, interview advice, help preparing résumés, and job search strategies, and offer job-posting services to employers. All the services are provided free of charge. Last year, more than 350,000 students received help at approximately 330 HRCC-Ss across Canada. "These centres are a key component of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy," said Minister Stronach. "They give students an opportunity to take that all important first step into the labour market and develop the skills, knowledge and work experience they will need to follow their career paths." Mr. Tom Taylor, Mayor of the Town of Newmarket, as well as a host of students and local employers joined Minister Stronach at today's official opening. This year, the Newmarket Human Resource Centre of Canada for Students will be located at 20 Wilstead Dr., and open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Employers interested in the job-posting services and students looking for summer employment can contact the Newmarket HRCC-S at (905) 953-7595. Human Resource Centres of Canada for Students are part of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy.
