MA-05.034 - June 16, 2005 OTTAWA -- Media representatives are invited to observe and interact with military, government, and information technology industry personnel participating in Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) 2005. Conducted June 6-23, CWID 2005 is an international event that tests the ability of communication systems to exchange information, which facilitates more efficient joint operations. The media event will be held on June 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Canadian Forces Experimentation Centre (CFEC) at Shirley's Bay. M anaged by the U.S. Joint Forces Command and by the Defence Information Systems Agency , CWID 2005 focuses on global solutions for linking agencies and systems involved with homeland security and defence issues. Canadian participants include the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada, and Defence Research and Development Canada. They are working with military and governmental organizations from 23 countries on a single experimentation network. Those wishing to attend the media event should arrive at the guardhouse at the entrance to the Shirley's Bay campus no later than 12:30 p.m. to allow time for security procedures. CFEC is a secure facility where visitors must be escorted at all times, and opportunities for photographs are limited. The media kit, which includes copies of the CWID 2005 Guidebook and the "Coalition Video," may be requested in advance and will be available during the visit.
