RICHMOND, November 24, 2005 – A $13,961,360 competitive contract has been awarded to Bird Construction Company of Richmond, British Columbia, to construct Phase III of the Surrey Tax Centre Half-Life Refit program, in Surrey, B.C. Awarded on behalf of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC), this contract will be completed in October 2006.
The announcement was made today by the Honourable Raymond Chan, Minister of State (Multiculturalism), on behalf of the Honourable Scott Brison, Minister of Public Works and Government Services.
“Congratulations to Bird Construction Company on winning this open and competitive tender to construct Phase III of this Surrey Tax Centre program,” said Minister Chan. “This project demonstrates the commitment of the Government of Canada to enhancing and upgrading federal buildings such as this centre.”
The work under this project comprises a major construction update of Phase III of the Surrey Tax Centre Half-Life Refit program. Phase III will be constructed in two components: component B, located on the ground floor, will be constructed following completion of component A, located on the second floor.
