Operation Jellybean, a two year joint drug investigation, centered in Fredericton culminates today with a number of searches and arrests.
Several locations in Fredericton, Moncton, Saint John, as well as Nova Scotia and Ontario are now being searched with judicial warrants to gather evidence of drug trafficking, money laundering, Proceeds of Crime, and firearms offences. It is expected that at least 18 people, including two females, will be arrested.
The investigation has been a partnership of the RCMP Drug Sections in Saint John, Fredericton, and Moncton, Integrated Proceeds of Crime Unit in Moncton, District 2 Oromocto RCMP and Fredericton Police Force.
Prior to today's searches, investigators have seized illicit drugs, cash, vehicles and other property.
Members of the Joint Investigation team will be available to the media to answer questions tomorrow, January 26, 2007 at 10:00 hrs. The media is invited to the "J" Division RCMP Headquarters Building at 1445 Regent Street, Fredericton.
