OTTAWA, January 9, 2007- The public warning
issued on December 22, 2006 has been updated to include additional product
code information. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and
Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel Inc. are warning people with allergies to egg
proteins not to consume President's Choice brand "Pork and Ham Pâté" - Cognac flavour, described below. The affected
product contains egg which is not declared on the label.
The following product is affected by this alert:
President's Choice brand "Pork and Ham Pâté" - Cognac flavour, sold in 150 g size packages, bearing UPC 0 60383 11327 8 and the Best Before date
up to and including 07MR02 (March 2, 2007).
This product was distributed in Ontario and Atlantic Provinces.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this
product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction
in persons with allergies to egg.
The manufacturer,
Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel Inc., Blainville, Quebec, is voluntarily
recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness
of the recall.
