OTTAWA, March 27, 2007 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is
warning people with allergies to egg, fish, milk, sesame, soy and wheat proteins
not to consume certain rice cracker products manufactured in Japan by
Sanko-Seika. The affected products contain egg, fish, milk, sesame, soy and
wheat which may not be declared on the label.
All packages of the following products which do not properly declare the
presence of allergens on the label are affected by this alert:

The affected products are known to have been distributed in British Columbia
and may have been distributed elsewhere. There have been no reported illnesses
associated with the consumption of these products.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with allergies to egg, fish, milk, sesame, soy and wheat
proteins.
The CFIA is working with importers of
rice crackers manufactured by Sanko-Seika, Japan to have the affected products
removed from the market place.
