FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WINDSOR, Ontario —Students and employers in Windsor will benefit from funding totalling more than $200,000 going to the Italian Canadian Handicapable Association, YMCA of Windsor and Essex County, Autism Services Incorporated, Académie Ste. Cecile International School, Canada South Science City and Spirit of Excellence Inc. under the Canada Summer Jobs initiative. The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Parry Sound–Muskoka, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development.
“Canada’s New Government is committed to helping young people acquire the skills, knowledge and experience they need to prepare for their future,” Minister Clement said. “Canada Summer Jobs is helping tens of thousands of students who need it the most get high-quality, career-related summer job experience.”
Canada Summer Jobs is focused on encouraging not-for-profit, public sector, and smaller private sector employers with 50 or fewer employees to create jobs that not only meet their needs, but benefit young people who need jobs the most. Many of the jobs funded are 40–50 percent longer in duration, and provide employment to students who face barriers to finding jobs, giving them an opportunity to gain experience they might not otherwise get.
