OTTAWA - The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport,
Infrastructure and Communities, today announced that WestJet, Skyservice
Airlines Inc., and Sunwing Airlines Inc. are now designated to operate
scheduled international air services between Canada and Mexico, and Air
Transat is now designated to operate additional scheduled air services
between the two countries, in accordance with the existing bilateral air
transport agreement.
"I am pleased with these new services, which will provide more options for
Canadians travelling to Mexico on scheduled air services," said Minister
Cannon. "Canada's New Government is committed to maintaining strong air
links with our international partners, while encouraging development of the
Canadian airline industry."
Under the provisions of Canada's international air transportation policy,
all Canadian air carriers may apply to the Minister for designation to
operate scheduled international services.

CITY-PAIR DESIGNATIONS FOR AIR SERVICES BETWEEN CANADA AND MEXICO
The 1961 Canada - Mexico bilateral Air Transport Agreement, as amended in
1999, governs scheduled air services between the two countries.
As of June 2007, the new airline designations for own-aircraft scheduled
air service from Canada to Mexico are as follows:
