OTTAWA — The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the re-appointment of Mr. Roger Demers and the appointment of
Mr. Michel Tosini to the board of directors of the Laurentian Pilotage Authority.
"I am pleased that these gentlemen have agreed to serve on the board of directors of the Laurentian Pilotage Authority," said Minister Cannon. "Their combined experience in the industry will be an asset to the board."
Mr. Roger Demers obtained a certificate in accounting from l'Université Laval and is a chartered accountant. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Certified Accountants Association of Canada, Quebec region. He currently is employed at Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, a private accounting firm, as vice-president for the Quebec region and Chaudière-Appalaches. He began his career in 1965 as a financial auditor, and subsequently provided accounting services for a number of companies specializing in a wide range of business activities, including manufacturing, retail, real estate, biotechnology, health, education, social services and transport. Mr. Demers has been re-appointed to the board for three years.
Mr. Michel Tosini holds a certificate in Executive Management from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. He studied finance and accounting for non-financial executives at McGill University. Since 2006, he has served as vice-president and general manager, Federal Marine Terminals, Inc. – a division of FEDNAV Limited. From 1998 to 2006, he was
vice-president, logistics and customer service, for CP Ships (Canada) Agencies Limited. From 1992 to 1998, he was vice-president, inland and marine operations, for Canada Maritime Agencies Limited. From 1980 to 1992, he held senior positions with Cast North America (1983) Inc. Mr. Tosini is a past chairman and board member of the Shipping Federation of Canada, and a past member of the Canadian Coast Guard Marine Advisory Board, Laurentian region. He has been appointed to the board of the Laurentian Pilotage Authority for three years.
The Laurentian Pilotage Authority is a Crown corporation created in 1972 under the Pilotage Act. It is responsible for operating and maintaining a safe, efficient and economical pilotage service on the
St. Lawrence River between Les Escoumins and the St. Lambert Lock, on the Saguenay River, and in Chaleur Bay.
