OTTAWA, December 17, 2007 -- The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:
The Honourable Zoël R. Dionne , a lawyer with Thibodeau, Dionne, Lévesque in Edmundston, New Brunswick, is appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick. He replaces Mr. Justice B.R. Bell who was appointed to the Court of Appeal.
Mr. Justice Zoël Dionne received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Moncton in 1982 , and a Bachelor of Arts in 1980 . He was admitted to the Bar of New Brunswick in 1983. Mr. Justice Dionne has worked at his general practice in Edmundston since 1983. His practice expertise is in commercial law, corporate, construction, agriculture, penal, family, real estate, and bankruptcy . Mr. Justice Dionne has been a member of Association des juristes d'expression française of New Brunswick since 1982, and a speaker of various legal matters at the Association des assureurs-vie d'Edmundston and at La bibliotheque Municipal de St Francois.
This appointment is effective immediately.
