STEPHENVILLE, NL – On January 28, 2008 in Stephenville Provincial Court, Mr. Roger Hilliard of St. Fintan's was sentenced to two months in jail, to be served concurrently, for violating his probation order on two separate occasions.
Mr. Hilliard was prohibited from being on inland waters for three years following his conviction on April 10, 2006, for jigging Atlantic salmon.
On May 19, 2007, he was in violation of his probation when apprehended by Provincial Inland Fisheries Enforcement Officers near Loch Leven Pond with 26 trout in his possession. On May 25, 2007, he was observed by fishery guardians near Crabbes River wharf, which is considered inland waters.
