BRAMPTON, Ontario, May 28, 2008 - Brampton residents of all ages will be able to enjoy a variety of performances at the Rose Theatre, thanks to an investment from the Government of Canada.
David Tilson, Member of Parliament (Dufferin-Caledon), on behalf of the Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages and Minister for La Francophonie, today announced funding for the Rose Theatre's 23rd performance season.
Funding of $50,000 will support the Rose Theatre's 2008-2009 performance season, which will include a Professional Entertainment Series, the Arts Adventures Series for Youth, and the Rose Theatre Family Programming. Performances range from theatre productions to music and dance.
"The Government of Canada is proud to partner with communities to support activities that celebrate local history, arts, and heritage," said Minister Verner. "We are committed to building stronger communities and to providing all Canadians with opportunities to get involved in their communities and in celebrating Canadian arts and heritage."
"The Brampton community is greatly enriched by the Rose Theatre," said Mr. Tilson. "It is important to support cultural organizations that enhance the quality of life of Canadians and allow them to showcase their talent and artistic excellence."
"The City Of Brampton Rose Theatre is very excited about the news that we will be receiving a grant from the Department of Canadian Heritage Arts Presentation Canada Program to support the upcoming 2008-2009 Rose Theatre Presents Entertainment Series," said Steve Solski, Manager of Art, Culture and Theatre with the City of Brampton. "The grant will be used to support the presenting of a more diversified program, more emerging Canadian artists and more performances for young people."
The Government of Canada has provided funding through the Arts Presentation Canada program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the diversity and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
