OTTAWA-Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will deliver the opening remarks at the 16th General Assembly and Scientific Symposium of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). The conference will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., at the Palais Montcalm (995 Place d'Youville, City of Québec).
As patron, the Governor General will open the conference, the theme of which this year is Finding the Spirit of the Place. She will welcome the participants and will emphasize the importance of refocusing our concerns on history and promoting heritage, both the material and the immaterial.
