SPRINGDALE, NL – A salmon angler received a heavy penalty from the provincial court at Springdale for offences during the 2008 inland recreational fishery.
Daniel Pearce of Roberts Arm was fined $750 and prohibited from inland waters for two years for exceeding the daily catch limit of two salmon and failing to immediately tag his fish. Mr. Pearce also forfeited a fly rod, reel and six Atlantic salmon.
DFO fishery officers and fishery guardians from the Springdale detachment were conducting a special operations investigation in the area of Tommy’s Arm River, Notre Dame Bay, when they observed Mr. Pearce failing to obey salmon angling regulations.
