OTTAWA, December 12, 2008 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:
The Honourable Frederick P. Ferguson, a Judge of the Provincial Court of New Brunswick, is appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick.
Mr. Justice Ferguson received a Bachelor of Arts in 1973 from Mount Allison University and a Bachelor of Laws in 1976 from the University of New Brunswick. He was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1976. Mr. Justice Ferguson was a Crown Attorney in New Brunswick from 1976 to 2003 and appointed to the Provincial Court of New Brunswick in 2003. Mr. Justice Ferguson has been a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, a member of the Canadian Bar Association and a member of the Executive Council of the Law Society of New Brunswick.
The Honourable Terrence J. Morrison, a lawyer with Cox Palmer in Fredericton, New Brunswick, is appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick.
Mr. Justice Morrison received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1981, and a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University in 1978. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1982 and the New Brunswick Bar in 1984. Mr. Justice Morrison was an associate lawyer with Spencer & Company in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1982 to 1983, and has been an associate lawyer and partner at Cox Palmer, formerly Hanson, Hashey and Cox Hanson O'Reilly Matheson, in Fredericton, New Brunswick since 1984. Mr. Justice Morrison has developed an expertise in commercial, commercial litigation and administrative (regulatory) law.
The Honourable Bruce A. Noble, a city solicitor for the City of Fredericton, New Brunswick, is appointed a Judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick.
Mr. Justice Noble received a Bachelor of Arts in 1973, a Bachelor of Laws in 1977 and a Master of Arts in 1980 from the University of New Brunswick. He was admitted to the New Brunswick Bar in 1977. Mr. Justice Noble was a Partner with Noble & Noble Law Offices from 1977 to 1989 and has been a city solicitor for the City of Fredericton since 1989. Mr. Justice Noble has developed an expertise in municipal law, administrative law, civil litigation, labour and employment
law and municipal prosecution. He is the President of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and was President of the Law Society of New Brunswick.
These appointments are effective immediately.
