OTTAWA, December 12, 2008 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointments:
The Honourable Robert Castiglio, a lawyer with Castiglio et Associés in Montréal is appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Québec. Mr. Justice Castiglio is replacing the Honourable Diane Marcelin, in Montréal, who elected to become a supernumerary judge.
Mr. Justice Castiglio received a Bachelor of Law from the Université de Montréal in 1973 and a Master of Laws from the Université de Montréal in 1979. He was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1975. Mr. Justice Castiglio was a lawyer and partner with Cutler, Langlois et Castiglio from 1972 to 1976. He was also a partner with Rivest, Castiglio, Castiglio, Lebel et Schmidt from 1977 to 1990 and a partner with Castiglio et associés since 1990. Mr. Justice Castiglio has developed an expertise in labour law, administrative law and negotiations of collective agreements.
This appointment is effective immediately.
