OTTAWA – The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources, today announced the release of a new, comprehensive guide to energy efficiency for industry.
The Energy Savings Toolbox, developed in conjunction with provinces, territories and industry stakeholders, provides a step-by-step methodology to help industry identify and capitalize on energy savings. The Toolbox, published on CD and available at no charge from Natural Resources Canada, offers a detailed reference for understanding and managing energy use in every phase of an operation, from designing and conducting an energy audit to carrying out cost-benefit analyses.
"The benefits of using energy more efficiently are very clear – energy efficiency means fewer emissions and lower costs. That is why energy efficiency is a key element of our Turning the Corner plan to fight climate change," said Minister Raitt. "But in a complex industrial operation, the savings are not always easy to spot. With the Energy Savings Toolbox, Canadian industry now has a start-to-finish guide to managing energy consumption."
The Toolbox includes an extensive technical supplement with spreadsheet tools for costing, analysis and other related calculations. It is available on CD at http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/industrial/technical-
