Capitalizing on Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Fredericton’s current port of call, eight New Brunswick companies led by ACOA Minister Keith Ashfield, are taking part in a business- to-business matchmaking reception aboard the vessel in Boston. The event caps off a two-day trade mission designed to build profile and develop new business leads and investment opportunities in New England for participating and other New Brunswick companies. The mission has been organized by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Business New Brunswick, the City of Fredericton, and Enterprise Fredericton.
“The Government of Canada is committed to helping Atlantic Canadian businesses compete internationally and thereby create opportunities at home,” said the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (ACOA). “Trade missions like this one are catalysts for business development and they play an important role in furthering the region’s long-term economic prosperity.”
Business New Brunswick Minister Greg Byrne says the event will strengthen existing trade ties and help create new opportunities for provincial companies.
“We are proud of our strong business connection with the northeastern states and look forward to forming new partnerships with the region,” said Byrne. “This is a terrific opportunity to showcase our innovative companies and explain all the benefits of doing business in New Brunswick.”
“The City of Fredericton is pleased to be part of the upcoming trade mission to Boston to promote Greater Fredericton businesses, including those from our innovative information technology sector,” said Mayor Brad Woodside. “We are grateful for the support being given to the mission by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the Province of New Brunswick, and Enterprise Fredericton. We are also pleased that the HMCS Fredericton can be part of the effort. The ship is a great ambassador for our city, province and country.”
Participating companies include: Accreon, Ambir Solutions, Buen Dia, Bulletproof Solutions, Northampton Brewing (Picaroons), Professional Quality Assurance, Skillsoft, and Red Hot Learning.
“Historically New England has been and continues to be an important market for our NB companies,” said Doug Motty, Executive Director of Enterprise Fredericton. “Now more than ever it is essential to keep those business relationships strong.”
The mission is supported by a $24,355 contribution from ACOA through the Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
