Key Industries will expand its services and client base thanks to a $300,000 investment from the Government of Canada. Rodney Weston, Member of Parliament for Saint John, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency).
“The Government of Canada is committed to advancing projects that build on local strengths to create lasting opportunities for people,” said MP Weston. “Through OCOA, our investment will help Key Industries offer its training to even more clients, benefitting individuals as well as businesses and communities in the Greater Saint John area.
“Key Industries is appreciative of this Federal funding making possible future program development. It is this support that will enable us to expand on social enterprises, in turn creating jobs and stimulating our local economy, said Christine Evans, President and CEO of Key Industries. “Thank You for supporting equal opportunity employers and increasing the independence and quality of life for those in our community.”
Key Industries provides life and work skills development training to adults with special needs in Saint John and the surrounding area. The project involves renovating and refurbishing the organization's new, larger building. This will help Key to expand its thriving promotional products business line, a steady source of revenue as well as increase its client base by up to 20%.
OCOA is investing $300,000 into the project through its Innovative Communities Fund, with Key Industries providing $2,410,602 for the expansion project.
Key Industries, an organization that provides life and work skills training to adults with special needs, will expand its facilities and client base, with the help of a $300,000 investment from OCOA.
