The Town of Tisdale will move forward with upgrades to their arena thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job creating investment from Canada's Economic Action Plan.
Today, Randy Hoback, Member of Parliament for Prince Albert, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, and Fred Bradshaw, MLA for Carrot River Valley, on behalf of the Honourable Jeremy Harrison, Minister of Saskatchewan Municipal Affairs, announced funding for upgrades to the existing arena that will create jobs for the community of Tisdale.
" Upgrading the Tisdale arena will ensure that our local families have safe and modern access to recreational opportunities, " said MP Hoback. " Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, our Government is creating immediate jobs and building the foundation for future growth. "
Funding of $205,166 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada's Economic Action Plan. The Province of Saskatchewan will provide a matching contribution and the Town of Tisdale will fund the balance for a total estimated project cost of $615,500.
The Town of Tisdale will renovate the existing arena to improve structural integrity, safety, and services for patrons of the facility. Work will include upgrades to the zamboni room, repairs to the exterior wall, renovations to the board glass, improvements in the sound system, painting, washroom renovations and flooring upgrades.
" The Government of Saskatchewan understands the importance of the Tisdale arena to a healthy and active community, " said Bradshaw. " Our investment in this project will increase recreational opportunities that will benefit the whole community. "
" The Town of Tisdale is very grateful for being approved for funding under the RInC Program, " said Mayor Rolly Zimmer. " Recreational infrastructure is an integral part of all communities as it provides an essential component to quality of life for all of our citizens. This funding shows that all governments have a commitment in this area. "
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
