MONTRÉAL, September 3, 2009 - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced funding for the Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal, which contributes to Montréal's reputation in the field of contemporary photography.
The 11th edition of the event will present about 20 exhibitions created by local, national, and international artists whose images are associated with theatrical experiences. The exhibitions will be presented in various Montréal locations (cultural centres, artist centres, art galleries, museums, etc.) In addition, several works will see their North American and world premières.
"Our Government is pleased to be associated with this international event," said Minister Moore. "This gathering of photography enthusiasts is a unique showcase at which artists from Canada and abroad can demonstrate the diversity of this art form and share their knowledge with the general public."
"Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal wishes to thank the Government of Canada for its support," said Chuck Samuels, Director General of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal.
The Government of Canada has provided $52,350 in funding through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (formerly called Arts Presentation Canada). This program gives Canadians direct access to a variety of quality artistic experiences through financial assistance to arts presenters or the organizations that support them.
