The Village of Rogersville will soon have an improved and more secure soccer field thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) Program, a key economic stimulus initiative under Canada's Economic Action Plan. Tilly O'Neill Gordon, MP for Miramichi, announced today funding of more than $9,000 to the village soccer field.
Our government, through Canada's Economic Action Plan, is committed to maintaining community recreational infrastructure such as the soccer field in Rogersville," said MP O'Neill Gordon on behalf of the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency). "This investment of more than $9,000, made possible through the RInC program, will provide much-needed economic stimulus while providing the people of this region with better facilities in which to play, relax and build community life."
"We are very pleased and excited to have the federal government's support toward these much anticipated upgrades to our soccer field," said his Worship Bertrand LeBlanc, Mayor of Rogersville. "We are very grateful for their commitment to this very important community project, which would not have been possible without their assistance."
The project consists in installing 1600 feet of fencing around the perimeter of the soccer field located behind École Secondaire Assomption in Rogersville. Improvements will include a new four-foot high fence with four three- foot wide entrances. Also, two large access gates will allow entrance of large equipment when required. Beyond economic stimulus and job creation, the project has the added benefit of encouraging higher levels of participation in physical activity and community building.
Canada's Economic Action Plan provided $500 million over two years for the RInC program, to support upgrading and renewal of recreational facilities in communities, and to encourage increased participation in physical activity and community building.

A total of $500 million over two years has been set aside through RInC to support upgrades and repairs to recreational facilities in communities throughout Canada. ACOA delivers RInC in Atlantic Canada. The fund, part of Canada's Economic Action Plan, will help mitigate the impacts of the global economic recession by increasing construction activity in the recreational sector.
