Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement today on the death of a Canadian soldier in Afghanistan:
“It is with great sadness that I extend my condolences, and those of all Canadians, to the families and friends of Lieutenant Justin Boyes, who died while conducting operations in Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”
“I would like to also wish a quick recovery to the two other soldiers injured during this same incident.”
“Canada and its international allies continue to secure and rebuild Afghanistan through the United Nations Assistance Mission. Progress is being made in the NATO-led mission and much hard work remains to be done.”
“The dedication, bravery and remarkable commitment of Canadians like Lieutenant Boyes will bring safety and stability to the people of Afghanistan.”
“The Government of Canada is proud of our Canadian Forces personnel as they work hard to protect our interests and our values around the world on a daily basis.”
“Their ultimate sacrifice will not be forgotten.”
