Souris, Manitoba
The Town of Souris is moving forward with repairs to its Memorial Complex thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
Today, Merv Tweed, Member of Parliament for Brandon-Souris, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding for this project that will create jobs for the community of Souris.
“Our Government, through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada program, is taking timely targeted action to put Canadians to work, encourage greater participation in physical activity and use of recreational facilities,” said MP Tweed. “This project will ensure our community has access to the essential infrastructure we need today, and in the future.”
Funding of $264,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
Under this project, the Town of Souris will repair the roof in the Souris Glenwood Memorial Complex.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities. A total of almost $153 million in RInC funding will be invested across the four western provinces by Western Economic Diversification Canada.
