Aneroid, Saskatchewan
David Anderson, Member of Parliament for Cypress Hills-Grasslands and Saskatchewan Correction, Public Safety and Policing Minister and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Wood River, D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert, announced funding to replace two sections of water lines in the Hamlet of Aneroid. This project will receive $9,332 in joint federal-provincial funding, under the Building Canada Communities Component.
The first line to be replaced is a six-inch mainline that carries most of the community’s water. The second line has experienced numerous breaks over the past few years. The old cast-iron lines will be replaced with new plastic piping. Replacing water lines provides a long-term solution to increased water line breaks in the community, and increases the reliability of its water treatment and distribution facilities. The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan will each invest $4,666 in this project. The Rural Municipality of Auvergne No. 76 will contribute the balance of the funding for an estimated total project cost of $14,000.
“Replacing the Aneroid water lines means improved water distribution for local residents,” said MP Anderson. “Our collaboration with the province of Saskatchewan on projects like this will help stimulate the economy, create jobs and improve the quality of life for Saskatchewan families.”
“ This investment will help deliver safe, clean drinking water to the community of Aneroid, ” said Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert on behalf of Municipal Affairs Minister Jeremy Harrison. “ This important infrastructure project will move Saskatchewan forward. ”
This project is just one example of the commitment of both governments to strengthen the Saskatchewan economy and improve the quality of life for its residents. The Governments of Canada and Saskatchewan have taken steps to advance projects and flow money faster for targeted infrastructure projects in Saskatchewan communities in the 2010 construction season.
