Marcelin, Saskatchewan
The Village of Marcelin is moving forward with arena upgrades thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“These upgrades to the Marcelin arena will ensure that the facility is able to serve our community for many years to come,” said Maurice Vellacott, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
The arena upgrades include repairs to the roof and exterior walls, which will help preserve the structure of the facility, enabling continued community use of this valued recreational hub.
Funding of $3,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan. The Village of Marcelin is committing $6,000 towards the improvements, for an estimated total project cost of $9,000.
“The Village of Marcelin appreciates the funding to extend the life of our arena,” said Mayor Dale Butler.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
