Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan
The Lucky Lake Co-operative Community Centre Ltd., the Village of Hodgeville and the Towns of Cabri and Lafleche are moving forward with recreational improvement projects thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“Projects like these in Lucky Lake, Hodgeville, Cabri and Lafleche are not only creating immediate jobs for our community, but are also paving the way for our community’s future growth with improved recreational facilities,” said David Anderson, Member of Parliament for Cypress Hills-Grasslands, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
With today’s funding, the Lucky Lake Co-operative Community Centre Ltd. is repairing the eavestroughs and downspouts, installing overhead doors, glass, puck board and flooring, to prolong the life of the community centre. Hodgeville is replacing the existing chiller and brine pump, furnace, flooring and puck board and installing energy efficient lighting to improve safety and energy efficiency in the arena. Cabri’s improvements include levelling the existing ice surface, replacing the header system and brine pumps, and upgrading the electrical systems to improve the quality of the ice surface and reduce operating costs, which will ensure that the facility continues to operate. In the fourth project, the Town of Lafleche is replacing the piping for the artificial ice system to ensure the facility remains operational and operates more efficiently.
Federal funding of $115,828 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan on total project costs of $347,486. The communities will contribute the balance of the funding.
The Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. It will provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
