Ottawa, March 19, 2010 – The Canada Council for the Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of Tammy Scott as the new Director of Communications, effective Tuesday, April 6, 2010.
With over 15 years’ experience in advertising and marketing communications, Tammy Scott has achieved success in consumer marketing, and has worked on both the agency and client sides of the business. In her previous positions, she oversaw corporate brand strategy as well as marketing, business planning and new product launches.
Prior to joining the Council, Ms. Scott was Vice President, Marketing Communications for TELUS; Vice President, Brand Marketing at Mastercard International; and Director, Advertising and Marketing for AGF Funds Inc.
Fully bilingual, Ms. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Concordia University, a Masters Certificate in Marketing Communications from York University’s Schulich School of Business, and has completed the Certified Advertising & Communications Professional program from the Institute of Canadian Advertising.
“Ms. Scott’s extensive experience in communications will consolidate the Council’s efforts in communicating with its key audiences,” said Robert Sirman, Canada Council Director and CEO. “I know that she will bring a fresh perspective and energy to the Council’s communications activities.”
Ms. Scott is replacing Carol Bream, who retired last December after working at the Council for 13 years.
