Powerview-Pine Falls, Manitoba
Powerview-Pine Falls is moving forward with renovations to its arena and curling rink thanks to the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program, a major job-creating investment from Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“Investing in the Pine Falls Arena and Curling Rink will create jobs right here in Powerview, while providing our community with an improved recreational arena to enjoy for many years to come,
” said Minister Toews on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification.
Powerview-Pine Falls is renovating the Pine Falls Arena and Curling Rink, including replacing the existing ice plant and building furnaces with a heat recovery system which will eliminate propane and oil heating.
Funding of $280,000 is provided through the Recreational Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“On behalf of Council and the Town of Powerview- Pine Falls, I would like to thank Minister Toews and the Federal Government for participating in this very important undertaking - the rebuilding of our recreation complex that will be renamed the Sunova Centre,
” said Ted Pichor, Mayor of Powerview-Pine Falls.
TheRInC program will invest $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period. In total, Western Economic Diversification Canada has approved 718 RInC projects that will use all of the funding available in the West. These projects are helping provide a temporary economic stimulus that will help reduce the impacts of the global recession while renewing, upgrading and expanding recreational infrastructure in Canadian communities.
