April 01, 2010 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is asking for comments on its Draft Cost Recovery Policy and Framework. This is one step in the CFIA's process to review and modernize service standards and user fees for services it provides.

The Cost Recovery Policy and Framework sets out the CFIA's approach to cost recovery. When finalized, it will be applied when cost recovery is being reviewed or considered in any CFIA program area. The policy and framework includes a costing methodology and criteria for developing service standards and user fees.
The CFIA welcomes any comments you may have and is particularly interested in your views on the criteria that will be used to develop the service standards and user fees.
Interested parties are invited to provide written comments through the on-line feedback page, by fax or by mail. Comments should be forwarded by April 30, 2010 and should clearly indicate "CFIA Cost Recovery Policy and Framework" in the subject line. For fax or regular mail submissions, please send to:
