KITCHENER, Ontario, June 28, 2010 - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Stephen Woodworth, Member of Parliament (Kitchener Centre), today announced funding for the NUMUS concert series.
From April 2010 to March 2011, NUMUS will present 11 performances at venues throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The series will offer a variety of genres, including various forms of new and exploratory music, performance, and contemporary dance, and will feature both emerging and established artists from Ontario, Quebec, and Australia.
"The NUMUS concert series provides artists with an opportunity to express their creativity and contributes to the quality of life in the community," said Minister Moore. "Our Government is proud to support arts organizations like this one, so that they may continue to bring such high-quality programming to regions across the country."
"NUMUS offers our community highly skilled, cutting-edge performances" said Mr. Woodworth. "I encourage everyone to attend NUMUS concerts."
"NUMUS Concerts appreciates the ongoing support of Canadian Heritage," said Cheryl Ewing, Executive Director of NUMUS. "This support allows us to expand our programming reach to include artists from beyond our community, to expose our audience to the best Canadian artists, and to continue to offer excellence in our programming."
The Government of Canada has provided funding of $20,000 through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program gives Canadians increased access to the variety and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other artistic experiences.
