OTTAWA, ONTARIO, September 13, 2010 - I congratulate Greyhound Canada Transportation ULC, Eastern Division, (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1415, for having successfully reached a settlement that will sustain an ongoing service to Canadian travellers. The best resolution in labour negotiations is one that the parties reach themselves.
I applaud the negotiating teams for reaching a resolution without a work stoppage. I also appreciate the efforts of the federal mediators who helped the parties reach an agreement. Our government supports strong labour-management relations that benefit our country's economic prosperity, the security of Canadians, and service to our communities.
