CanNor is investing $54,500 for a bilingual business services study to be carried out by the Association Franco-Yukon (AFY). The funding will support research and a needs assessment of bilingual business services for Yukon entrepreneurs. The AFY will use the gathered information to determine existing gaps in current services and make recommendations on ways to strengthen bilingualism in Yukon's entrepreneurial sector.
The study will be carried out in four stages:
- Collect/analyze data on current business-related services provided to Yukon entrepreneurs, with a focus on bilingual services.
- Needs assessment of Yukon entrepreneurs, with a focus on francophone businesses.
- Review and analysis of information from other Canadian jurisdictions with similar service-delivery to francophone entrepreneurs, including Ontario, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, and Prince Edward Island.
- Promotion of study recommendations to address the long-term needs of Yukon's francophone business community.
The AFY is a non-profit organization based in Whitehorse, Yukon, and has been active since 1982. The AFY's mission is to improve the quality of life for Yukon's francophone community. The AFY is active in promoting community development, stimulating economic participation for its constituents, and maintaining and strengthening French culture and language.
