MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Gulf Region, announced today a sentence imposed on three individuals for lobster fishing violations in the Gulf Nova Scotia area.
Fishery officers from the Pictou Detachment laid charges against the individuals under the Atlantic Fisheries Regulations on August 21, 2010, when they encountered a vessel and divers in Skinners Reef, in Caribou, Nova Scotia.
On November 16, 2010, Patrick MacCormack of Pictou pleaded guilty to fishing for lobster without a licence as well as possession of undersize lobster and possession of a female lobster with eggs attached.
On June 7, 2011, Jamie MacDonald of Saltsprings and John Hawboldt of Green Hill pleaded guilty to fishing lobster without a licence and possession of undersize lobster.
Provincial Court Judge Del Atwood imposed a total of $16,500 in fines to the individuals charged in this case.
