GASPÉ, QUEBEC, July 19, 2011—Youth in the region will have the opportunity to discover various facets of the corporate world thanks to support from the Government of Canada. The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency) (La Francophonie) and Member of Parliament for Madawaska‑Restigouche, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development.
“In today’s environment, it is more important than ever that young Canadians have the skills and information they need to participate and succeed in the job market,” said Minister Valcourt. “Our government is proud to support activities such as this one, which allow youth to develop an entrepreneurial mindset as well as the ability to contribute to their local economy.”
With assistance from the Youth Awareness program, the Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi of La Côte-de-Gaspé Regional County Municipality, in collaboration with several partners, will organize an event aimed at introducing youth to the multiple facets of entrepreneurship. The initiative will not only contribute to strengthening the ties between the job market, regional development and youth, but will also allow participants to develop the skills they need to succeed in the business world.
The Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi of La Côte-de-Gaspé Regional County Municipality will receive over $10,000 in federal Youth Awareness funding.
