Thanks to support provided by the federal and provincial governments and the Georgetown and Area Development Corporation, new retail shops are now a reality and ready for vendors.
“Our Government recognizes the vital role that small and medium-sized businesses play in strengthening the Atlantic Canadian economy,” said Minister Shea, on behalf of the Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and La Francophonie. “Our Government is pleased to invest in projects, like the opening of the Kent Square Retail Shops, which support private sector growth and expand economic opportunities in rural Prince Edward Island.”
The Georgetown and Area Development Corporation has constructed a building in the Town of Georgetown to accommodate five separate retail spaces. These spaces will give residents and visitors another reason to visit and shop in Eastern Prince Edward Island. The retail spaces are now available to vendors to rent and establish their business in Georgetown.
“This project is essential to enhance the tourism sector in Georgetown and provides an economic boost to the area,” said Neil LeClair, Minister of Fisheries Aquaculture and Rural Development. “Establishing retail shops in Georgetown will create an economic development opportunity for business people in the area for years to come."
