OTTAWA – The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today released the following statement concerning the accident involving a First Air aircraft yesterday:
"On behalf of Transport Canada, I would like to convey my condolences to the families of those killed in this tragic accident.
"Transport Canada will cooperate fully with the Transportation Safety Board as it investigates this accident. The department has appointed a Minister's Observer who will keep me informed of the investigation's progress.
"Transport Canada remains dedicated to keeping Canada's transportation system safe and secure. The department will continue to work with the Transportation Safety Board to do all it can to maintain and enhance the safety of Canada's air sector."
