Dr. Latour brings a wealth of experience to his position as an alternate Member of the Sahtu Renewable Resources Board. He has extensive work experience in the public sector in the area of wildlife management.
Dr. Latour is presently employed in the Yellowknife office of the Canadian Wildlife Service (Northern Conservation Division) as Habitat Biologist for the Northwest Territories. The main focus of his work is assessing migratory bird habitat, establishing protected areas, management of existing protected areas in the Arctic and migratory bird habitat/population studies. In addition, Dr. Latour co-ordinates the environmental assessment of industrial projects in the western Arctic and participates in the negotiation and implementation of Aboriginal land claim settlements. This includes participating on renewable resource management boards.
