Moncton, New Brunswick, April 11, 2012—The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Labour Minister, today addressed the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce through a keynote address on the economy and current labour initiatives. Minister Raitt was also accompanied by Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament for Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe.
“Our government recognizes the tremendous contribution made by Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs to Canada’s economic well-being,” said Minister Raitt. “Economic Action Plan 2012 brings additional support to businesses, promotes job creation and supports Canadians with relief measures when they need them the most.”
The Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce voices the issues and concerns of the Greater Moncton business community. It also facilitates interaction between its members through networking, partnerships and altruistic activities, helping them to grow and prosper.
The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code. These laws cover industrial relations, health and safety, as well as employment standards, and apply to federally regulated workers and employers.
