The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) is seeking public comment on the appropriateness of declaring green demolition projects located on lands owned by the National Capital Commission in the Gatineau Park and the Greenbelt as a designated class of projects.
Projects that are part of a designated class of projects undergo a specific type of environmental assessment called a class screening. Class screenings ensure consistent consideration of environmental effects for a class of projects and increase efficiency between the involved federal departments. The goal is to simplify the environmental assessment process of projects that are not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
The model class screening report (MCSR) “Green Demolition Projects Located on Lands Owned by the National Capital Commission in the Gatineau Park and the Greenbelt” can be found in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, on the Agency’s Web site at www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca.
