Ottawa – The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, tabled in the House of Commons today, the 2012-13 Reports on Plans and Priorities on behalf of 97 government departments and agencies (excluding Crown Corporations).
"The Government's plan to return to balanced budgets over the medium term is on track," said Minister Clement. "Measures to restrain growth in federal spending have proven to be highly successful, ensuring continued and growing funding for the programs and services that are high priorities for Canadians. Canadians understand and support this approach, taking targeted actions when necessary to support the recovery."
The 2012-13 Reports on Plans and Priorities explain the funding requirements outlined in the Main Estimates 2012-13, tabled in February 2012. Like the Main Estimates, they do not cover initiatives announced in Budget 2012.
"The Government's economic management strikes the right balance between supporting economic growth and job creation and returning to budget balance over the medium term," added Minister Clement. "This approach will boost our efforts to achieve a sustainable and prosperous recovery, and preserve our Canadian economic advantage now and in the future."
