Ottawa, Ontario, September 10, 2012 - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Labour Minister, congratulated Jazz Aviation LP and the Canadian Airline Dispatchers Association (CALDA) on ratifying a new collective agreement.
“I am very pleased that Jazz Aviation and CALDA have reached an agreement, as the best decision is one the parties reach themselves,” said Minister Raitt. “Strong labour–management relations are crucial when facing the current and emerging economic challenges.”
The unit of approximately 65 flight dispatchers are responsible for planning and monitoring the progress of aircraft journeys. The new collective agreement is valid for six years, and replaces the previous agreement which expired on June 30, 2012.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program’s Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
