Township of Armour, Ontario, October 16, 2012 – Residents in the Township of Armour will benefit from the recent completion of three key infrastructure projects which will provide additional space for municipal offices, make local roads safer and help protect the environment.
The projects included:
- Renewing the Armour Municipal Office to provide much needed office, archive and storage space.
- Widening and resurfacing Commercial Drive to include turning lanes and signal lights at the Highway 520 intersection.
- Improving the TRI R landfill facility.

said the Honourable Tony Clement, Member of Parliament of Parry Sound–Muskoka, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario. "Families and local residents will benefit from road safety enhancements and waste management improvements that will help protect the environment for future generations."

said Bob MacPhail, Reeve of the Township of Armour. "We now have the appropriate facilities to better serve the community, now and into the future."
The governments of Canada and Ontario each contributed $286,664 to the projects through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund. The Township of Armour contributed the balance of the projects' total eligible costs of $860,000.
The Government of Canada has engaged provinces, territories, municipalities and key stakeholders in a series of roundtables to guide the development of a new long-term infrastructure plan that will support job creation, economic growth and prosperity. We have heard that we are on the right track: there is a need for strong, sustained investment and we must continue to work together moving forward. To improve infrastructure across Canada and leverage new investment, our new long-term plan will encourage greater use of public-private partnerships, while respecting the capacity of Canadian taxpayers.
These projects also support Building Together, the Government of Ontario's long-term infrastructure plan to repair, rebuild and renew the province's roads and highways, bridges, public transit, schools and postsecondary institutions, hospitals and courthouses. Through Building Together, Ontario plans to invest more than $35 billion over the next three years to create or preserve over 100,000 jobs on average each year. Infrastructure investments create high-quality employment, support economic growth and helps make Ontario's economy more productive.
