Today, LaVar Payne, Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding towards two infrastructure projects in the Village of Foremost under the Harper Government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
“I am proud to see the Village of Foremost benefit from our Government’s investment in local infrastructure,
” said MP Payne. “These investments will help create jobs and growth, and will support the prosperity of the community for years to come.
”
An investment of $18,925 will enable the Village of Foremost to renovate two baseball diamonds, which include repairs to the turfs, installation of sprinkler systems and other facility upgrades. This will create a more satisfying recreational experience for players, families and community members.
“The Village of Foremost is very pleased to receive funding in the amount of $18,925 to renovate our baseball fields. This upgrade will be a great addition to our community,
” said His Worship Ken Kultgen, Mayor for the Village of Foremost. “Our young baseball players are excited to be able to play on the new diamonds. Thank you to LaVar Payne and the Federal Government for the Community Infrastructure Improvement funding for this project.
”
In addition, funding of $4,274 will support the installation of a soundproof door in the Foremost Municipal Library, creating a quieter, more enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors.
“This sound proof curtain allows the Library to better accommodate general library patronage at the same time as our R.I.S.E. video conferencing equipment is in use,
” said Bill Nicoll, Chair of the Foremost Municipal Library Board. “The CIIF money enabled this project to be possible.
”
Together, the Harper Government is investing $23,199 that will help to create local jobs and spur economic growth while leaving a lasting legacy of improved infrastructure in Foremost.
CIIF supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure accessible to the public. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in Western Canada with an allocation of $46.2 million over two years.
Since 2006, the Harper Government, through WD, has invested in job-creating small and medium-sized businesses, aerospace, marine and defence industries, and supported innovative entrepreneurs in pursuing emerging markets. By continuing to promote new economic opportunities, WD is helping to create jobs, economic growth, and long-term prosperity.
