Glenella, Manitoba – Today, Robert Sopuck, Member of Parliament for Dauphin—Swan River—Marquette, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced federal funding under the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF) to the Rural Municipality of Glenella for improvements to the Glenella Community Hall.
"By helping to improve community infrastructure, our Government is doing its part to ensure that communities across our country can grow, prosper, and remain strong,
" said MP Sopuck. "The Glenella Community Hall is a key gathering place for local residents, and I am proud that our investment will allow this facility to be used for many years to come.
"
Federal funding of $8,635 will go towards interior and exterior restoration work including repairs and insulation for the hall roof, and the replacement of damaged dry wall and flooring. The investment will help extend the life of the facility while ensuring that the residents of Glenella continue to have a gathering place for community events, celebrations and social functions.
"The Glenella Community Hall is a very important facility in our municipality and hosts various social events which occur in many small communities,
" said Derek Klassen, Reeve. "The repairs will ensure the facility will continue to operate well into the future.
"
CIIF supports, on a cost-shared basis, repairs and improvements to existing community infrastructure accessible to the public. Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) is delivering the Fund in Western Canada with an allocation of $46.2 million over two years.
