Today, the Honourable Ted Menzies, Minister of State for Finance and Member of Parliament for the riding of Macleod, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced support for six community infrastructure projects across Macleod under the Harper Government's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

" said Minister Menzies. "Not only do these recreational facilities provide residents with important programming and services that contribute to healthier and more vibrant communities, but they help to create jobs, growth and economic prosperity.

The Harper Government's investment of over $310,000 will support improvements to six community facilities across Macleod. These projects include upgrades for the Pincher Creek Curling Club, Lomond Community Multi-Purpose Facility and Priddis Community Association Societies, as well as the Fort Macleod & District, Springbank Park For All Seasons, and Stavely & District Agricultural Societies. These investments will ensure residents and families can continue to enjoy these local facilities for years to come.
In Economic Action Plan 2012, the Harper Government announced further support to help communities across the country modernize their infrastructure. Our Government committed $150 million over two years for the Fund. The Fund supports projects that look to improve existing community infrastructure accessible for use by the public, such as community centres, recreational buildings, local arenas, cultural and other community facilities.
